In 2016, Singaporean national swimmer Joseph Issac Schooling swam against the world’s best in the 100m Butterfly category.
From his past days’ performance, Singapore had its hopes high. This could be his first-place win.
And Changi Airpot wanted to be the first to wish Joseph congratulations on his impending victory.
So, we stuck by our guns and planned ahead for a congratulatory note that only Changi Airport could pull off.
We put all our pieces together, and we waited.
From the moment the start buzzer sounded off, we held our breath in anticipation.
And the millisecond Joseph hit his record, we sprang into action.
Within moments of keying in the numbers ‘5-0-3-9’, our post went live.

In the first 2 hours, we hit over 30k in likes with thousands of shares and comments flooding in.
But somehow, this didn’t feel quite enough… yet.
Because not only did Joseph set a new world record, but he also beat out his childhood hero Michael Phelps.
The Michael Phelps.
And being the place where Joseph would take his first steps back home, we decided to go big or go home.
Joseph’s flight was greeted with a water cannon salute upon landing, and we live-streamed his warm welcome from fans and heart-warming reunion with his family.
Together, these videos raked up over 744k views and 30k reactions.
Bringing this homecoming full circle, we turned digital into reality and brought our 2D Solari board post to life
in Changi’s own terminal.
